A persistent drunk driver (PDD) designation, defined under C.R.S. § 42-1-102(68.5), attaches when a driver tests at a BAC of 0.15 or higher, refuses chemical testing, has two or more prior alcohol-related convictions or license revocations, or continues driving after a restraint has already been imposed for an alcohol-related offense. It brings additional mandatory consequences on top of the standard DUI penalties: extended alcohol education and treatment, a longer ignition interlock requirement, and closer ongoing monitoring by the state.
